Sofa tables are tables that are long, tall and narrow; they are placed backed up against a sofa. They originated in the later part of the 1700s and were a piece of furniture that was found in most homes that were owned by wealthy people. Sofa tables were created in order to give more floor space.
They are created out of heavy wood and have drop leaf extensions on each end with drawers in the middle part of the table. This lets it have lots of functions. They are still around today and with the same basic construction as years ago.
