When people buy their home, they wander through each room with plans and dreams for them in their mind. Reality often thumps in, unwelcomed, and changes those plans. Dining tables have to fit into the room that they are going into, not only in the style sense but in an actual, physical sense as well. If you cannot walk around dining tables in their smallest version, you will never be able to easily entertain around them either. It makes no sense to buy a table that is scraping the wall on both sides of the room and you cannot in good conscience ask your dinner guests to shimmy under the table to get to their places on the other side.
